Musiqtone.com Bio: Alan Ho is the chief head and chief editor/publisher and the current interim regional head of both the Pacific/Southwest and East Coast regions at Musiqtone.com, an online music news & media outlet following the departures of Stephanie Mora and Spencer Abbott. He founded the outlet as MusicMania, which began life as a project for his freshman English class at Indiana's Purdue University with fellow classmate and original co-founder Peter Burke. During his reign at the top of the MusicMania masthead his top accomplishments included a then key relationship with now-defunct company CDigix, a then digital entertainment firm that was doing business with his alma mater and ushering in coverage of the indie and underground which helped form the basis of the present-day Musiqtone.com
On February 8, 2005, Ho singularly changed the name of MusicMania to Musiqtone in an effort to transform the music site into a future music news & media outlet. His current accomplishments to date include launching You Gotta Know, which includes proud alums such as Curtis Peoples, The Academy Is, Sarah VonderHaar. and the indie flagship feature's most accomplished alum, Honor Society. He has also forged relationships with much of the major record labels and their press departments as well as creating relationships with some of the top public relations firms representing some of the top music talent in the industry.
He is a perennial point person for Musiqtone.com's coverage of Warped Tour and has seen time on The Hot Seat at venues like Charter One Pavilion and Park West in Chicago. He is also a key point person in The Critics Corner, which is his forte and original craft before creating Musiqtone.com.
Personal Bio: Alan Ho was born June 14, 1984 in Arlington Heights, IL and is a current resident of Hoffman Estates, IL. He is a 2002 graduate of Palatine's William Fremd High School, where he also did Scholastic Bowl, Model United Nations, Orchestra, PAB, and ran track. He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana where he majored in Organizational Leadership & Supervision. While at Purdue, he was a member of the non-denominational Christian faith group The Navigators and spent much of his college days rooming at Cary Quadrangle.
He enjoys playing baseball, basketball, football, and golf, having played the former two and latter for many years. He also enjoys watching the first three sports mentioned and is an ardent supporter of Purdue football, basketball, North Carolina Tar Heels basketball, and is probably one of the biggest Cubs fans on the planet. His music ranges from alternative to pop to R&B to some hip-hop to rock. And on the side, he also can design and develop web sites, dish advice from being a former peer counselor in his Purdue days and moonlights as a low level computer lab aide/tech at a local community college to keep his tech skills sharp. |
