The ascension of Bravestate to the top of Musiqtone's indie coverage is extra special for this Boston-base outfit that brings their take on the tried and true formula of piano-driven edgy pop/rock. For lead vocalist and pianist Yvette Ivory, this will technically be her second time on You Gotta Know, marking a first ever for the franchise.
But Bravestate is not your run of the mill piano-driven pop/rock; once you get into their lyrics and arrangement, its a sound that can only described as deep, lush, full of meaning, and rather insightful. It's Bravestate's insightfulness in their music that sets them apart from their contemporaries.
This is why Musiqtone has chosen this outfit, with a former You Gotta Know making her second appearance on this franchise September's You Gotta Know. |
Although Bravestate delivers music through a radio accessible Rock/Pop song format, they certainly do not confine their sound to that of any common genre. Their melodies seem to soar through lush sonic landscapes of Classical/Celtic/Rock/Pop fusion. The lyrics, which are unusually insightful for pop music, reach even greater heights as they gracefully entwine personal experience with universal themes all the while being delivered through poignant metaphoric narrative. Upon the debut release of their debut EP "Farewell to the Castle" the Boston based quartet, comprised of Yvette Ivory (Vocals/Keyboards), Jeremiah Clark (Guitar/Back-up Vocals), Sam Aydlette (Drums), Andrew Malkin (Bass) has staked claim to their very own flavor of sophisticated Indie-Pop. Currently, songs from "Farewell to the Castle" are being played on radio stations across the U.S including WMEL's Pop Garden in Florida and The Time Machine Radio Show in Hawaii, as well being streamed through KGRL.net in California and MUSIQTONE.com in Ohio. This month MUSIQTONE will also be featuring Bravestate as the 'You Gotta Know' pick for September.
