bout the Band/Act
This New York City native has no fear taking her performance from underground on a subway platform to the worlds premier stages and arenas: Staples Center, House of Blues, Carnegie Hall and many more.

Growing up the West Village Natalie began busking on subway platforms at just 16 years old finding herself on the front page of the NY Times because of it.

Combining elements of folk, country and pop Natalie has a sound all her own. Rich Warren, the host of Folk-Stage called Natalie one of the best voices in folk music today. Her voice and songwriting have lead to her independently releasing two albums and selling over 15,000 CD’s out of the trunk of her car.

A modern day troubadour, Natalie has crisscrossed the country many times over and completed a 10-week tour of the UK, Europe and Scandinavia in support of Streetlamp Musician produced by Charlie Midnight (Joni Mitchell) and Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac).

Now based in California, Natalie is finishing her third album featuring ‘Some People’ a song the Huffington Post calls “a classic in the making”.

Wherever she lives, the stage is her home. Natalie has toured and shared the stage with Dave Mason, JD Souther, Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, Ellis Paul and others. Recently called on to open for Bon Jovi, Natalie and her band won over the 17,000+ crowd as they joined her singing her song “Photograph” at Golden 1 Arena.

How do you go from busking on the famed subway platforms of your native New York City to playing the stages of the likes of House of Blues and Carnegie Hall?

By being real and true to yourself. In a music world increasingly dominated by electronica and canned songwriting, West Village native Natalie Gelman is a breath of fresh air in the industry.

Taking acoustic guitar-driven pop/rock and taking elements of folk and country, the end result is an organic sound that harkens back to singer-songwriters like Michelle Branch, Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morrisette and Liz Phair.

There is deep range here, from the loud and dynamic "One More Thing" to the folksy and understated tones from "Long-Stemmed Roses" to the biting alluding commentary to "Lion." Something for everyone, but it' is for the everyone who are looking for the time when music was generated with an acoustic guitar, a fantastic voice that is not generated by auto-tune and songwriting that is tight but not canned.

All of these things is why Natalie Gelman is a You Gotta Know!
