EP review: Honor Society

honorsociety_160_2 Who:  Honor Society

For fans of:  Justin Timberlake, All Time Low, Backstreet Boys, Jonas Brothers, The White Tie Affair, and Panic At The Disco

Album:  A Tale of Risky Business EP

Review:

The yet-still unsigned group from New York comes out with a long-awaited studio EP, A Tale of Risky Business, which should last long enough for the immensely talented group to craft a full-length album.  The 7 track EP only has 3 full-length tracks, each preceded and followed by so-called interludes.  It has a nice touch, but it would be distracting if the band uses them in a liberal fashion as they do on the EP on their full-length debut.  The first full-length track, the ever-so-popular ‘See U In The Dark’ features a slashing electric guitar solo while ‘Why Didn’t I’ had a combo feel of The White Tie Affair mixed with Jonas Brothers mixed with current Backstreet Boys.  A very interesting combination given that The White Tie Affair themselves have an interesting combination of sounds themselves.  The final full length, ‘The Takeover’ will get you up and moving if not dancing to the beat-friendly track.  The track has a sort of ‘Shake It’ type feel.

The EP overall definitely shows what the guys can do and it shows off a little bit of everything, from Michael Bruno’s slight Justin Timberlake-like falsetto and fabulous electric guitar work to the drum work laid behind Alex Noyes, and the chilling bass solos behind Andrew Lee.  Once again, after listening to the EP, one must wonder why no record label, big or small has snatched them up yet.
