Despite the proliferation of rock acts coming out of a town known for its country and blues, Nashville still turns out the aforementioned like it always has. And the latest out of the Music City is indicative of its roots.
Haley & Michaels is borne out of sharing the same musical influences but as it has been put, Shannon Haley and Ryan Michaels actually grew up in the same neighborhood and never even knew one or the other existed! The relative newcomers have already turned heads with a fantastic cover of Hunter Hayes’ “Wanted,” described as an “aching and lovely alternate version of a lovely track,” according to country music mag Taste of Country.
The powerful duo have recently completed their residenncy at the venerable 12th & Porter in downtown Nashville, playing a quartet of shows that saw them share the same stage with the likes of Keith Urban, Vince Gill and Bon Jovi. The twosome are currently in the studio recording and tracking their debut album, due out sometime this year.
It is indeed still “Country Strong” in the Music City.
