Stephen Kellogg announces new album, tour

By Alan Ho

You knew him as the frontman for Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers through the early to late 2000s, but now Kellogg is taking the solo route once again as his band takes a hiatus.  Just today (March 20), the singer/songwriter announced the release of his third solo effort as well as a national tour.

Titled Blunderstone Rockery, it is set for release on June 18 under indie upstart Elm City Music and is named after a “boyhood home of my favorite character in my favorite book,David Copperfield,” according to the singer-songwriter in a press release.

“In November of 2012, my band of the last ten years decided to take a hiatus,” he explains further in the release.  “We performed our final show at Webster Hall in New York City for three hours and said goodbye for now. 2012 also took with it my mother-in-law and my grandmother, Most of this happened in late Spring, when my house was under renovation. The foundation was still there, but the house was literally ripped apart. Some metaphor, huh? The musical result of this tumultuous period is Blunderstone Rookery.

Before the album is released, Kellogg will be embarking on a coast to coast acoustic tour with opening acts The Alternate Routes, Seth Glier, Milow and Rebecca Pidgeon, all of whom will be opening on selected slates.
