John Mayer set to return from hiatus with new tour, first since new release

By Alan Ho

John Mayer will embark on his first major tour in three years following a then-indefinite hiatus after a relapse of throat granuloma shelved the original tour to support his last album, Born and Raised two years ago.  He has warmed up with an appearance on April 25 at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and also a show in Tuscaloosa, his first shows since April 1, 2011.

The tour will run through the fall and begin July 6 at Milwaukee’s Summerfest and there is an added bonus!  One dollar from each ticket will benefit NCIRE’s work supporting returning military vets.  American Idol winner Phillip Phillips will open along the tour route (with the exception of Kansas City and Atlantic City).  Tickets are on sale at LiveNation.com.
