The Vaccines premiere new song, announce tour

By Alan Ho

UK garage rockers The Vaccines have released a new track today (Monday July 1) ahead of their announcement of a North American tour that begins in August.  The track, titled “Melody Calling” will be part of a future EP and was recorded back in March of this year at the famed Eldorado Studios (the studio itself will turn 50 next year) in Burbank. CA.  Produced by John Hill (Rihanna, MIA, Santigold), “Melody Calling” at the very least showcases a new side of what many consider them to be a “post-punk revival” group in the same vein as fellow countrymen The Strokes and Scottish outfit The Jesus and Mary Chain.

The Vaccines have made recent showings at Bonnaroo and Glastonbury (last weekend) and will return August 2 for a Philly headliner before heading out to Lollapalooza in Chicago.  Then the tour begins in earnest where they will be in tow with Mumford and Sons for a dozen shows, play some headliners out west and then have a few more across the US with Phoenix.
