For fans of:  The Civil Wars, The White Stripes

Never has an unlikely cacophony of musical sounds sound so good together.  There’s bluegrass, punk rock mixed with folk, Americana, southern Gospel, classic rock and Texas Swing and all of that results in the latest duo Grace & Tony.  Think what happens when you mix The Civil Wars (Tony White is the brother of John Paul White) with the White Stripes…call it “Punkgrass.”

“Punkgrass is simply a natural fusion of my punk rock back round, and Grace’s southern gospel and bluegrass upbringing,” stated Tony. “It isn’t forced, it’s very organic and it stands out because it’s a real fusion of what’s new and old. We play whatever pops into our heads; from classic rock to southern gospel, we scratch every itch. It’s dark, yet happy; silly, yet serious. Plus, it’s a whole lot of fun to play.”

They are prepared now to take their “Punkgrass” sound to the streets of Nashville and bring a unique sound not heard ever before in a town known for its bluegrass, gospel, folk, blues, country and even punk rock.  Their full length debut is set for release on November 12, 2013 and it is aptly titled November.  The duo have recently described the album’s sound as “Grassphemy,” a progression from their self-named style of “Punkgrass.”

“This album is the next chapter for us, it’s a new set of stories we need to tell,” said Tony. “This music is more mature and shows our natural progression as songwriters. We battle tested the songs and chose the ones that would represent our growth as a duo.”

Let’s see where Grace Shultz and Tony White (the duo recently married on July 27) will take this new unique sound.  Check out their video back on January 18 of this year to find out their unique sound!
