The British invasion of music that has taken this side of the Atlantic the past few years could get a bit more alternative rock with this talented base duo (with 3 touring musicians) out of London. Anavae (Rebecca Need-Menear and Jamie Finch) is a name you might not have heard of yet on this side of the pond, but on THEIR side of the pond, they have slowly climbed up into the consciousness of a fanbase yearning for some homegrown alt-rock talent.
Their debut EP, which was self-released caught the attention of Kerrang!, Music Week and got a brief look for the US with Property of Zack, Alternative Press and Absolutepunk.net. This in turn got the attention of UK indie label giant LAB Records, who have several US acts to its portfolio such as Cartel, The Summer Set, hellogoodbye, William Beckett and the Hush Sound. Their first EP with the label Storm Chaser spawned the hit title single, which went as high as no. 10 on the iTunes UK rock charts and debuted at no. 33 on UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart. However, it is their most recent EP that has finally caught the attention of everyone in the genre.
Dimensions debuted at no. 32 on the official rock charts and peaked at no. 10 OVERALL on the iTunes rock charts, an impressive feat for a non-major label act.
To know what they are all about, check out their two music videos, their breakout hit “Storm Chaser” and the more recent “Anti-Faith” and you will know why Anavae is a name you gotta know on THIS side of the Atlantic pretty soon!
