Reinventing and relaunching is a common thing in pop music and in the last few years, doing so results in striking gold. Ask Taylor Swift as she switched gears via the former. Ask Katy Perry or Lana Del Rey for the latter.
For NYC sisters Melissa and Jessica Labbadia, it will be the latter as the former L2 reemerges as RUUMER. The Spotlighters are known for their singles “Insomnia” and “Boys and Girls,” both of which scored no. 1 overall finishes on The Countdown at one point and remain one of two indie acts to achieve the feat (the other being Megan & Liz). Now as RUUMER, they bring in a track that is one to remember, combining bite, attitude and a heavy helping of slick power-pop.
Check out “House of Cards!” It is an anthem for the ages……..
