The Spotlight

Who:  The Drama State
Where:  Gas City, Indiana
For fans of:  Angels & Airwaves, New Found Glory, You Me At Six

Indiana, known more for its singer-songwriters like John Mellencamp, the legendary rock band Guns N’ Roses and of course the Jackson 5, actually has a pretty vibrant but underrated and woefully under-covered punk rock scene.  And that might change with self-described “millennial rock” act The Drama State.

In spite of their self-description,  the Gas City, IN act can be described as New Found Glory, You Me At Six with the catchiness of an Angels & Airwaves with a little slickness one found in Jason Lancaster’s Go Radio.  In other words, the best that pop-punk and alt-rock has to offer!

The group is relatively new to the scene, formed in 2012 but has quickly gained a following thanks to a key spot on the 2013 edition of the Vans Warped Tour and again in 2015 via a promotional 3 track sampler.  The group is currently working on a sophomore effort, seeking a breakout, which based on their infectious sound and energy, there is no doubt that The Drama State could very well be a group one needs to watch out next year!

To get a feel for the group’s sound, here is the music video from “38th and Central,” which premiered today (November 23) on Myspace!
