The spotlight:

From the country that has bred some classical music and opera’s greatest acts to ever cross the stage/venue and given the music world the great classical crossover superstar Andrea Bocelli comes potentially dare we say the best sounding trio of singers since The Three Tenors.  Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto, and Gianluca Ginoble are called Il Volo and after setting their homeland on fire with their remarkable harmonies and voices well beyond their own ages (ages 15 to 17), the trio is about to bring it to the US and their brand of classical-influenced pop songs in the same vein as Bocelli.  And why not, the three are being looked after by the very person that helped bring Andrea Bocelli to the national stage in the mid to late 90s, Michele Torpedine…

Their debut album is already out in Europe and will come to the US in April 2011 on Interscope Records, making them the first Italian act to be signed to a non-classical American label.  In the meantime, check out a very well done and well performed rendition of the Neapolitan favorite “O Sole Mio”!  You can also check out the video as well and you’ll be surprised which of those three pulls off the famed Pavarotti near the end of the song!
