Who: Cherri Bomb
Sounds Like: The Donnas, Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Garbage
The Foo Fighters and the Smashing Pumpkins love ‘em. So do the Europeans and Australians and they just came off one hell of a time at SXSW, a considerable risk considering their ages (13 to 16) in a festival mostly populated by twenty and thirty-somethings. For teenage rock sensations Cherri Bomb, they would not have it any other way. The four-piece hard rocking outfit, led by lead vocalist/guitarist Julia Pierce merges the core elements of prog rock from Led Zeppelin, the post-grunge of Foo Fighters and Garbage with the youthful alt-rock stylings that turned Paramore into superstars and packages it all together with the grrrl rock that made The Donnas and Heart among the best female rock bands music has ever seen.
You can watch their video released last October titled “Let It Go”, which will appear on the girls’ upcoming debut album on Hollywood Records, due out May 15. You can also get a taste of what these four girls are all about on their 5-track EP, STA, which was released last year.
