Electro-pop outfit and Columbia Records recording artists Passion Pit announced today (April 24) via press release that they will release their highly anticipated Gossamer, the follow-up to their breakout and critically-acclaimed debut album Manners on July 24th. The album, according to the press release, will comprise of a dozen tracks showcasing frontman Michael Angelakos’ growing lyrical prowess alongside the electronica-pop beats Passion has quickly become known for. “On Gossamer there is more of a dichotomy between the lyrics and the music. You hear my lyrics more precisely which is something I was ready for. The lyrics on this album have a lot to say about what the last two years of my life have been troubled with,” explains Angelakos in the release. Gossamer was made throughout 2011 in Los Angeles and New York City, and again finds Angelakos working with Manners producer Chris Zane.
The group will warm up the upcoming release with a series of shows this month, debuting new tracks from Gossamer along the way and perform old favorites from both Manners and their debut EP Chunk of Change. Then Passion Pit will hit the prolific summer festival circuit, including stops SunFest and Meltdown next month, a coveted spot on New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival in June, a big spot on Firefly in July and then a big-time spot at Lollapalooza in August.
Passion Pit is the dynamic musical mission of Michael Angelakos, the electronic wunderkind best known for his complex and multi-layered pop songs. Angelakos, who debuted with his notoriously charming Chunk Of Change EP in 2008, released Passion Pit’s debut full length Manners in 2009.
