The 2012 edition of the British Pop Invasion into the US continues in high gear as Columbia Records snags another potential pop superstar with Olly Murs today (May 7, 2012). The 2009 X Factor (UK) runner-up will release his US debut single “Heart Skips a Beat” on May 22 and make his American live performance debut as he opens for new fellow label mates and countrymen One Direction on their widely sold-out and anticipated 2012 North American summer tour.
Murs was the runner-up to the 2009 edition of The X Factor (UK) where he performed “Superstition” in front of Simon Cowell and subsequently impressing the normally hard-to-impress judge. The eventual runner-up released two wildly successful albums in his native UK and has sold over 4 million records internationally. Now, Murs will be bringing his craft to the US, seeking even more success in a country now absolutely obsessed with British pop acts!
"I can’t wait to come over to the US to tour with the One Direction boys and release my first single there! ‘Heart Skips A Beat’ is a favorite of mine and my fans, and I hope you guys will love it too,” says Murs in a press release by the label today (May 7).
His US debut album is slated for a Fall 2012 release.
