Who: The Shures
Where: Technically the U.K. but one can say the good ol’ World Wide Web.
Members: Chris Kennedy (United Kingdom), Ashley B. (US), and Gabriel C. (Australia)
Why you need to watch ’em: Music as a medium is constantly evolving and with the advent of the internet and its recent advances that have come since, the world has gotten a whole lot smaller and this self-described "internet band" is testament to its wonders. The Shures spent much of their collaborative time over the internet, much like UK supergroup The Accidental. The trio covers the US, England, and Australia. Band members Ashley, Gabz, and Chris have never met each other physically, making the band a true internet group unlike The Accidental, who have been together for photo shoots.
The sound is very mellow acoustic pop/rock with clear influences of old school R&B and soul from Ashley, the contemplative and poppy voice of Chris, and the edginess from Gabz. As the band says, if online dating is out there, why shouldn’t online band making?
Truly a revolution could begin and three people from different time zones and worlds are at the center of a possible new beginning.
