Lights Resolve is a New York based alternative rock band that is made up of three talented musicians named Matthew Reich, Neal Saini and Luke Daniels. Not only were they named Rolling Stone’s “Breakout Band” in 2009, they have also toured with notable and impressive bands for example The Used, Panic! At the Disco, Dashboard Confessional, Straylight Run, and Phantom Planet. The trio has self produced three EPs since 2006 and have appeared in several music festivals such as Bamboozle, SXSW and Vans Warped Tour. The band is recently signed to Rock Ridge Music and just released their first full-length album Feel You Different. The album is full up creepy beats, dark and edgy vocals and unique lyrics.

The album starts out with a captivating track called “Another Five Days”. The song has a haunting feel to it, but definitely draws the listener in. This sets the atmosphere for the moody record and prepares the listener for the different emotions. The song repeats, “It’s been another five days and I’m still waiting here” twice in the refrain and you will without doubt catch yourself humming the line after a few listens.

The next song on the record is a quicker song called “Get Away With It” that has addictive drumbeats and expressive lyrics where the singer is asking, “How did you ever get away with it?” and you can feel the emotion and question in his voice. This is one of the favorites on the record because it is a very raw song.

The third track is a song called “Happens Every Day” it is another fast pace song with an appealing guitar intro and unique vocals. My favorite part of the song is in the refrain, which the vocals turn into more of a chant of “Start the fire, you can’t hurt desire. I just may inspire you to kill or buy her”. The vocals in this song stick in your head like glue after one listen to it.

“HIPS” is the fourth track on Feel You Different; it is a strong song with a screamo feel to it. The song is very powerful with angry music rhythm and matchless vocals. Following this song is “Hurt A Little” it is a mellow song about feeling hurt in your life. “Misfire” follows next and it is powerful song with catchy vocals and music that almost feels metal. It is unique with a range of vocals from a sinister whisper to screaming all in one song.

The next song is “My Gemini”; it begins as a slower song with low vocals and towards the end speeds up into a more rapid song.  “Rhapsodize” is the next song to appear on Feel You Different, the song starts out with a dark feel to it with edgy vocals. The song’s title means to speak or write about someone or something with great enthusiasm, and this song depicts that sort of sensation. Following this colorful song is a track titled “Sew It Up”, it starts off soft and creepy then builds up a steady, catchy beat that gets your feet tapping on the first listen.

The album ends with two tracks titled “Stick em Up” and “With the Pieces”, which adds an explosive end to the album. “Stick em Up” gave me a feeling about someone who is feeling different and embracing it. It is a very empowering song with a likable beat. The last song, “With the Pieces” and it a strong end to the album, and it definitely goes out with a bang.

The trio has said that they recorded this album in many different locations to enhance the emotion in each song. The recorded in Florida, Pennsylvania, and northern New York. The songs they recorded in Florida are more up-beat tempo and lighter songs. For the heavier and edgier songs they recorded up north to get a more creepier and dark feel. The band did a great job at displaying this emotion in each track they delivered on Feel You Different. The first album from this unique rock band is certainly memorable and I am excited to see what is next for them.
