Review written by: Winfield Dean
Stars Go Dim have put their best foot forward with their second album, “Between Here and Now”. This album is full of soft pop rock melodies and catchy lyrics that will have you listening over and over.

“Hesitate”, the opening track and the first single off the album, is about throwing yourself completely into a relationship and not hesitating about any decisions made. This song is one of the more solidly rock songs on the album and has incredibly catchy lyrics about not holding back, it’s a perfect song to start the album of with. It has an upbeat tone and message that will keep fans listening.

The second track, “Like I Mean It”, is a ballad about loving “like you mean it”. It’s about not saying no to opportunities because your days will slip away. You should live and love with everything you have. It has a slow rock sound that is continued in “Now or Never”, the third track on the album. “Now or Never” has an easy-listening, acoustic sound that fits quite well with the catchy lyrics of being in love.

Next on the album is “Lose It”. This song is filled with pop melodies and catchy lyrics. “Lose it” is about not having that girl that drives you crazy. He loses control when he sees this girl with other guys and he can’t get her out of his head no matter how hard he tries.

“Between Here and Now”, track five, returns to a more rock sound. This song is about changes. “Between Here and Now” is one of my favorite songs on the album. It’s about questioning what’s going on around you and why certain events occurred the way they did, but not giving up when tragedy strikes in your life. This is one of the most sentimental songs on the album; it’s the song that I want to listen to over and over again.

Track six, “Life Without You”, is a ballad about losing the love of your life. It’s about learning how to deal with broken promises and moving on from the pain of heartbreak. My favorite element in this song is that he counts the days he’s been living without this girl. It makes it incredibly relatable because he’s letting you into specific days of trying to move on from a relationship.

The last track on the album, “Seventeen”, is about being seventeen when he saw the first love of his life. Chris Cleveland’s voice is incredibly powerful in this song. It’s about love being everything when you’re seventeen and that you put everything you have into the relationship and knowing that the relationship would last forever. The song moves through their ages as the relationship progresses.

“Between Here and Now” shows the growth Stars Go Dim has made musically since “Love Gone Mad” and is full of refreshing new songs that will appeal to a variety of people. This second album shows amazing lyrical and musical talent. The lyrics are incredibly relatable and have important and relevant messages. I could listen to this album no matter what my mood; these songs fit any occasion.
