Dance Rawr Dance Tour III- Cambridge, MA

Energy abound on Boston tour stop
concertThe night  of September 22nd in Cambridge, MA held an energetic feel in the air as the line for the Dance Rawr Dance III tour wrapped around The Middle East.  This year’s Dance Rawr Dance tour consists of Family Force 5, Breathe Carolina, Cash Cash, Queens Club, and I Rival, which is a sure guarantee for a fun show.  As the doors opened, fans slowly began to filter into The Middle East and fill up the rows in front of the stage where they anxiously awaited I Rival to take the stage.

I Rival took the stage and set the show up for a great night.  The crowd didn’t seem to know the band’s material, but that didn’t stop them from enjoying their set.  Each member of I Rival put a lot of energy into their performance which got the crowd moving.  The song “Make Me Scream” seemed to win over as the crowd’s favorite.

Queens Club was the next band to take the stage bringing a more calm atmosphere to the show.  Their set contained a variety of both upbeat and slow songs.  The crowd wasn’t familiar with their music and was slow to warm up to them, but by the end of their set everyone seemed to be enjoying them.

After Queens Club, there was a new sense of excitement in the air as the crowd awaited Cash Cash to take the stage.  Cash Cash had a very commercial opening and you could tell the anticipation was killing the crowd.  The band finally took the stage, opening their set with the self titled song “Cash Cash”  and the crowd instantly began jumping.  Cash Cash added a new song to their set list this tour called “Dynamite.”  They then played a Sean Kingston cover of “Fire Burning.”  Lead singer, JP  asked for a dance circle, instead of the traditional circle pit.  They had a break dancer take the stage  which was a cool surprise for everyone. Cash Cash closed their set with their most popular song, “Party In Your Bedroom.”

Breathe Carolina was the next band to take the stage.  The first thing that caught the crowd with their set was the fabulous light show they put on behind them.  Breathe Carolina opened their set with the song “Hello Fascination,” and the crowd instantly began dancing.  They played a couple new songs called “Welcome to Savannah”  and “I.D.G.A.F” which seemed to be the crowd favorite.  They closed their set with the “Punk Goes Pop 2” cover of “See You Again” which everyone in the crowd loved, even if they weren’t a fan.  Kyle also head walked into the crowd at the end of the song.  When Breathe Carolina left the stage, the crowd immediately began screaming for an encore.

Before Family Force 5 there was a countdown and when it finally hit one, Family Force 5 finally took the stage.  They were all wearing matching shirts and opened with the song “Dance or Die.”  The crowd instantly began jumping up and down and continued to do so throughout the set.  They played the songs “Country Gentlemen” and   “Drama Queen.”  Family Force 5 also had a fantastic light show going on behind them and they always impress the crowd with their synchronized dance moves.  When they played “Love Addict” the crowd instantly began screaming the lyrics.  They then played the other popular songs “Ugly People Put Your Hands Down” and “Super Sonic.”  During the song “Radiator,” Chap Stique impressed the crowd by playing the guitar with his teeth.  He then walked around the crowd and played guitar on top of the bar during “Get Your Back Off the Wall.”  They then played “Erfquake” and Soul Glow Activatur let a girl in the crowd sing into the microphone.  Nadaddy, the drummer was also doing handstands on the drum set.  Family Force 5 then left the stage and Xanadu came out and got the crowd even more hyped up as they screamed for an encore.  For the encore, they played the song “Fever.”

The Dance Rawr Dance III tour is something everyone can enjoy.  There were people from ages twelve to forty two dancing to all the bands.  Even if you don’t enjoy the bands on CD, this is a show that is inevitable to enjoy.  There’s still a few weeks left of the tour, so if you have the opportunity definitely go check it out.
