We head down to Nashville for the latest installment of The Spotlight and found ourselves a sisterly duo that definitely earns a spot on our radar for acts to watch in 2020 as the 2019 music season begins to close!  Presley & Taylor originally hail from Connecticut but has since been in Nashville “to chase our dream.”  The sisters described their journey into the dream:

“We come from a very musical family; everyone in our family plays or sings. Music has always been a part of our lives and always will be. We went into the recording studio for the first time when Taylor was 14 and Presley was 16; just for fun. What started out as just singing one or two songs just for mere enjoyment, quickly turned into an 8-song EP (ALL KINDS OF BEAUTIFUL) that was ready for release! We just dove in head-first and our career has snowballed.”

When asked about their sound…

“We say there are only two types of music…”good and bad.” Our sound is evolving; we draw influence from a variety of genres from traditional country, rock and roll, pop and much more. Some of our personal favorite recording artists in the country music format, whom we admire their artistry and style, are Miranda Lambert, Carrie Underwood, Kacey Musgraves, Dolly Parton and Pam Tillis, just to name a few. We are extremely excited about the music we’ve recorded and are preparing to release throughout the remainder of this year and in 2020.  We recorded with Keith Burns (of Trick Pony) and legendary Producer James Stroud who helped us to capture what we feel is our genuine sound and we are so ready to share it.”

That sound is embodied in new single “Where You Belong,” which came out to digital outlets on October 18 and recorded with legendary producer James Stroud and Keith Burns from Trick Pony. The song is described by the sisters as a “dreamer song” and “offers perfect advice to anyone chasing a dream.” They further elaborated during our sit-down:

“We’re pinching ourselves that its going to be released. The message is strong, true and hopeful and we hope everyone finds their own meaning in the message.

Listen to their new song below the bonus questions we got them to answer during the Hot Seater!  The sisters are still in the planning stages for their 2020 EP and will continue to “trickle out singles early next year.”

You were both on the stage of the legendary Grand Ole Opry not too long ago! What was the experience like; what were your thoughts getting on to the stage that country music built?

We grew up listening to the Grand Ole Opry on WSM and attended the show as part of our schedule literally every trip to Nashville. That was a night we will never forget. We had finished recording in the studio with our dear friend and mentor, Pam Tillis. We were all extremely excited about what we just cut and Pam graciously invited us to sing that song, “Heart Over Mind,” with her on a sold-out Friday night at the Grand Ole Opry. It was a dream come true!

Where do you see yourselves in the next 5 years?

We have no idea where we’ll be in the next five years, but we’re dreaming really BIG! We do know we’ll be writing and recording music, singing, playing shows and hopefully, we’ll continue to enjoy the journey and maybe even some major success.  That’s our hope; that’s our goal. We just have to “wait on it, pray on it, set that course and stay on it.”

If you had to be an opening act for any tour, whose would it be?

Oh my gosh, that’s a tough one! We’ve been blessed to share the stage with so many talented artists throughout the past few years and there are so many amazing artists that we would love to go on tour with.  (Again) Dreaming BIG, we would be on tour opening for Kacey Musgraves! Just putting it out into the universe ☺
